Meghan Hammond - In the Way of the Keystone XL Pipeline

Meghan Hammond is a proud sixth generation farmer/rancher from York, NE. A young woman in her 20s, she gladly follows in her father and grandfather’s footsteps and carries the flag of her forefathers’ love for the land. This is why Meghan became a leader in the far-reaching movement opposed to building the Keystone XL pipeline extension - the proposed trajectory of the pipeline is slated to pass directly through the land of Meghan's family. Being completely against it, she and her father Rick creatively decided to build an energy efficient barn right on the proposed route, so that if and when the time comes, a dilemma would tangibly emerge between keeping a renewable energy-powered barn, or destroying it to run a pipeline moving the dirtiest and most environmentally damaging type of fossil fuel. Their barn will force two radically opposed concepts to literally collide: long-term love and care for the world and its water, versus short-term financial gain (for a minority) leaving potential ruin and destruction behind.
